Preparing for an incoming emergency often means preparing for “any” type of emergency. Often when the client calls the hospital they are so upset it is not always possible to find out what kind of an emergency, the type of pet or how long before their arrival. The following are several lists of items that should be prepared. Your crash kit should be fully stocked at all times and be checked on a monthly basis for soon to expire drugs and supplies. There is also a list of supplies you will need to quickly gather and have prepared. If there are multiple employees available each one should be assigned an area to prepare, if you are alone prepare in order of priority: Airway/breathing, Circulation, Crash cart, Electrocardiogram machine, and radiology.
